Despite the awareness we have gained on gender equality via the “MeToo” movement, reports of domestic abuse against women continue to rise. The COVID-19 crisis will unleash 31 million new cases of domestic violence. Chiara Condi — activist, gender equality expert & founder of Led By HER — confirms that economic independence for women is the basis of gender equality. She argues that the workplace has a fundamental role to play in the fight against domestic violence, calling upon policy-makers and economic actors to adopt some “first-step” measures that could empower women to change their situation.
